Thesis Statement:
The Three Mile Island nuclear accident occurred on March 28th, 1979, in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. It destroyed the public's hope and optimism toward the atomic energy revolution and caused public panic, chaos, and confusion due to the government’s reaction to the disaster. This crisis led to the creation of the Kemeny Commission to investigate the accident, prevent more, and sparked many more major reforms throughout the nuclear industry, restructuring of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and the establishment of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations to enforce safety and training standards of nuclear plants.
